Ownership inscription on front end page, rubber stamp from National Trust Victoria on verso of front board, and verso of rear board, and on front edge of text block. Loosely inserted article from Melbourne newspaper relating to this book, and the auction, pasted to front end page advertisements for auction, and article from the Herald dated Monday, June 21, 1965. Creasing to the spine, and a couple of rubbed marks to the left-hand side of the front panel. . "No one can estimate what the sale of these 1287 books will realise from Australian and overseas bids, but to give you an idea, lot 1153 consists of three volumes of manuscripts written by Rear Admiral Richard Thomas from 1841-44 and if they don't fetch £ 5000, the experts will be surprised. One of the experts as Mr Gaston Reynard, and antiquarian bookseller, who has spent a year cataloguing the Coles collection. His catalogue is a masterpiece of scholarship.
