The author has taken men from history, Napoleon, Frederick, Voltaire, Johnson and Confucius (among others) and extrapolated how they would have viewed world history at the time of writing the book at the beginning of World War II. Softening and a little rubbing of the back strip edges and bumping of the book corners. Rubbing and bumping of the lower book edges with heavy browning of the text block edges and light age toning of the pages. Faint offset tanning of the endpapers. A previous owner has underlined the text with a lead pencil. Fading to the back strip and small gift inscription to the top edge of the free front endpaper. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
