Green coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper with light and dark blue coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. H. M. S. Constant was built in the middle of World War I, and was obsolete before she was launched. Her armament was only four six-inch guns. She was slated to be demolished and broken up just before 1939, then World War II broke out. H. M. S. Constant then became a training ground for new recruits. Then on a training run under a new captain, in the Shetland waters, she ran across the German pocket battleship Kaiser Wilhelm .... Softening and fading to the back strip commensurate with loss of dustwrapper. Bumping of the book corners with rubbing of the lower book edges. A few white marks to the front book panels with browning of the text block edges and age toning of the pages. Offset tanning to the endpapers. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and back strip with some pieces missing to the top dustwrapper edge. Tears to the dustwrapper edges with some associated creasing. Rubbing of the dustwrapper panels and some foxing to the verso and the results of insect activity can be seen to the rear fold over crease. Browning to the verso. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
