Dark red leather covered boards with gilt embossed illustration of an elephant's head to the front panel and gilt coloured illustration and titles to the back strip. Gilt to the top text block edge. Illustrated dustwrapper with black and red coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. An adventure story of two young children who spy "... a small, brown ... pointy-eared person ... step quietly into the Ring." from the illustration page 6. Chipping to the back strip edges along with a little sunning commensurate with loss of dustwrapper. Rubbing of the book corners with age toning of the text block edges and scattered foxing. Offset tanning to the endpapers and the first few and last few pages of the book show a few foxing spots. Previous owner's ex libris plate affixed to the front paste-down and original bookseller's rubber stamp to the top edge of the same page. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and back strip edges. Rubbing and some handling marks to the dustwrapper panels and the top edge shows a few small closed tears. Heavy sunning of the back strip please see photograph.
