Plain white coloured card covers. The text is illustrated with black and white drawings. Illustrated dustwrapper with black and blue coloured titles to the front panel and white coloured titles to the backstrip. Photograph of author to the rear dustwrapper panel. Ostensibly a crime novel about the death of Tom Collins, research biologist, and the most likely suspect of the murderer Christian Doom – famous and ageing detective; who then is mysteriously kidnapped, putting his protégé in the firing line to find both his boss and who did it. But, as the front fold over panel blurb states "Kenny explores the critical & philosophical implications of the detective in the roles of hero, unraveller of clues & orderer of chaos, against a background – created from an eclectic pastiche of the factual & fantastic – of a brooding presence, Melbourne – with its grandeur, power & institutions in decay and its own history catching up on." A little rubbing of the book edges and a few marks to the half title page. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges, panels and spine gutters. The glue that held the dustwrapper to the book has become unstuck and the remains of it can be seen. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 107, [5 – of which three are further titles from publishing house] pages.. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Illustrated. Quantity Available: 1.
