Dark blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper with pink and white coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. A famous society beauty is found dead in an abandoned room in a back street of Soho. Apparently motiveless and with clues that lead nowhere, Caspar Small and John Deering take up the case when Scotland Yard appears to abandon it. In a thrilling climax. The culprit is forced into self-disclosure. The book is showing age and wear. Softening and rubbing to the backstrip edges, book corners and lower book edges. The spine is very cocked and there is the results of moisture visible to the lower book edge, top and bottom and spine and to the top right-hand corner of the front panel. Foxing and light browning to the endpapers with the front end paper having previous owners details. On the rear paste-down is a small notation "No 116 Werri Beach Library" former owner's own collection. The dustwrapper is in really poor shape. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and lower backstrip edge. The top 0.25 " of the backstrip is missing. The dustwrapper edges show various tears and mix with some small pieces missing from same. Sunning and staining along with rubbing. Also visible. The verso of the dustwrapper shows staining, thickly along the backstrip region, top right-hand corner of the front panel where the colour of the underlying board has bled, along with foxing to the fold over flaps.
