Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece, Illustrator not credited, which has also occurred to the illustration within the text. Red coloured cloth covered boards with black embossed colour titles to the front panel and backstrip. An adventure story, probably from the 1940s (gift inscription dated 1948), about two boys and a car that takes them to a sacred city underneath the Sahara desert. Softening to the backstrip edges with bumping of the book corners and rubbing of the lower book edges. A few stains to the book panels, particularly the back panel (white coloured splatter). Browning of the textblock edges and age toning of the pages. This original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down and a gift inscription to the half title page.
