preface by Erik Wettergren, catalogue of works works reproduced, the text is illustrated with numerous black-and-white and the occasional colour reproduction of art works. 1/4 cream coloured cloth covered backstrip with blue coloured insert to the top part of the backstrip and within a blue insert gilt coloured titles. 3/4 blue coloured boards and the corners have been tipped in the same coloured cloth as for backstrip. A white coloured label has been pasted to the front board, and within that white label blue coloured titles. Light blue coloured tints to the top textblock edge. At the end of World War II the Swedish National Museum retrieved their most precious artworks from where they had spent the war years (in caves) and put them on display once more. This book celebrates that event. Rubbing to the lower book edges and a little softening to the top book edge. Rubbing to the book panels and faint foxing to the endpapers with very light age toning of the internal pages. This is the first edition in the English language. Size: Folio (over 12" tall ).
