405 g.; VI, 7-96 pages, introduction by granddaughter, genealogical table. Pale tan coloured endpapers. Colour illustrated frontispiece by an author as are all the black-and-white illustrations within the text. Green coloured boards with gilt embossed titles to the front panel and backstrip. Pink coloured tint to the top text block edge. Rubbing and discolouration to the backstrip and bumping and rubbing to the corners. The front board is quite bowed. discolouration to the book edges and light browning and faint foxing to the text block edges. Faint erasure mark to the top right-hand corner of the free front end paper. Light age toning to the internal text but there is quite noticeable foxing to the last few pages of the book, at the top edge. Colour illustrated dustwrapper, same illustration as for frontispiece, with brown background and black titles to the front panel and backstrip. Rubbing and slight chipping to the dustwrapper corners. The major damage to the dustwrapper has been to the rear panel. There are two tears that run the full depth of the dustwrapper, starting at the top and arcing into the body of the dustwrapper then ending at the lower dustwrapper edge. The dustwrapper panel itself is in three component parts with large amounts of scuffing, rubbing and loss of the background colour where the tears are stop there smaller tears to the front dustwrapper edges and foxing is visible and very noticeable to the verso of the dustwrapper. The dustwrapper is now protected in library sleeving. The diaries of the author who kept numerous diaries throughout her life. This book celebrates her family's life between the years 1864 to 1866. She was one of 12 children of Thomas and Rachel Buxton and these diaries celebrates the every day o a Victorian family. Size: Oblong 8vo - 7¾" - 9¾" tall but wider.
