Illustrated endpapers showing small vignettes of the internal text illustrations, against a green coloured background and between each small vignettes is a black-and-white illustration of an African warriors head. The text is illustrated with black-and-white illustrated frontispiece and seven full page black-and-white illustrations, unfortunately no indication of the illustrator is given. There has been a duplication of the text: -- after page 96 the pages re number from page 65 through to the end of book. Dark red coloured cloth boards with self embossed illustration to the front panel and gilt titles to the backstrip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper with red and black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. Black-and-white illustration of the author to the rear fold over panel. An adventure set in Africa were a young man goes in search of the fabulous ruins of Zimbabwe. No publication data is readily available but given the illustrations and the book presentation probably 1950s. A little bumping to the backstrip edges and rubbing to the book corners. Heavy browning to the top text block edges and lighter browning to the other text block edges and of the pages. A little rubbing and creasing to the dustwrapper edges and some rubbing to the book panels. Yellowing of the fold over panels. On the verso of the dustwrapper flaps the remains of tape can be seen and there is rubbing of the cloth colour to the verso of the front panel. Size: 12mo (standard paperback). V, 6-160 pages..
