The history encompasses not only the grand days of early Broken Hill, but also the days when Broken Hill was effectively put on the scrap heap due to the closure of one of its mines -- South Mine; and its resurrection due to a band of certain citizens who ".... did not subscribe to that viewpoint. Men who had previously grown-up and worked at Broken Hill, they were not convinced that the South Mine had been worked-out and, despite ridicule, stern opposition and many heart-stopping encounters, succeeded beyond their most optimistic dreams." -- from the front fold over blurb. This is the first Australian edition. Size: Oblong 8vo - 7¾" - 9¾" tall but wider. 100 pages.. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Ron Bentley -- Photographer.
