Red coloured boards with gilt coloured illustration across the lower right-hand corner of the front panel, of a Panther, and gilt coloured titles to the spine. Illustrated dust wrapper, showing a , young woman dressed in a red negligee and a man in a suit leaning and against a wall. Black, white and blue coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the back strip. A novel from the fifties in a hard-boiled crime genre -- Rex was in trouble and her name was Lola. Part of the Panther Books publications series -- number 93. Bumping to the head and to the heel of the spine and rubbing to the book corners. Loss of colour to the top spine edge and shelfwear to the book edges. The spine is very slightly cocked and a hint of fading of the spine. Browning of the paper edges along with some staining. Offset tanning and browning to the endpapers and the internal pages are Browning, basically around the edges. Original owner's stamp to the top right-hand corner of the free front endpaper, half title page and title page. The dustwrapper is slightly rubbed at the corners. All edges are rubbed. Slight chipping to the head and to the heel of the spine along with a little creasing. The back panel is somewhat yellowed and grubby. There is a 0.25 " tear to the top rear dust wrapper edge with associated precinct. Clipping of the dustwrapper, front fold over, lower right-hand corner. The front illustration has been poorly printed and looks slightly out of focus. This is the first UK edition.
