Prefatory Note by Author, list of illustrations. Illustrated endpapers being more publications from the Methuen's Colonial Library. Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece, protected by tissue guard, showing " M. Francios Bigot, The Intendant ". Within the text there are another 10 black-and-white illustrations and a foldout map showing " A Plan of the River St. Lawerence, from the Falls of Montmorenci to Sillery, with the Operations of the Siege of Quebec ". Green coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. A historical novel based around the events of The Siege of Quebec using historical documents and maps for the basis. Heavy bumping to the head and to the heel of the spine and the lower spine edge has underlying board showing in a small area. Heavy bumping to the book corners, underlying board can be seen on the top and bottom front panel. The cloth of the book has become rubbed, faded and marked. The spine has also being slightly sun damaged with a slight darkening of the cloth. Browning and foxing to the paper edges. Offset tanning, browning and marks to the endpapers and internal pages are very slightly tanned. The illustration between pages 30-31 is slightly larger than on the paper surrounding and consequently looks as if it is detached. First edition of the work in this format and binding, and/or set or series. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
