foreword by Margaret Herron. Each page of text has an illustrated header. Illustrated endpapers. Brown boards with green illustration on the front panel and green writing on the spine. The corners are rubbed and there some bumps along the book bottom edge. The head and heel of the spine are rubbed. Both front and back paste downs are very faded and scuffed. Plain text dustwrapper, with yellow writing on front panel black and yellow writing on spine. Dustwrapper is rubbed and faded and there is minor chipping to the top 2 corners. There is a small piece missing from the bottom right hand corner. The back panel has some grubby marks and there is some chipping along the top edge of the dustwrapper. C. J. Dennis died in 1938. This book of 140 verses, published posthumously in 1952, many of which first appeared in the Melbourne "Herald" during C.J.Dennis's association with that paper, is now brought together in book form.
