DIX, EDWIN ASA [Augustus]. A Midsummer Drive Through the Pyrenees, London and New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1890. Octavo, early printing, likely the first, but priority uncertain to me, pp. 332, double-p map, green cloth quarter-bound in darker green cloth, gilt-stamped lettering and decoration on spine, black lettering on upper panel above gilt-stamped coach-and-four on a mountain road, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed, half-tone photo plates and drawn illustrations in text, halftone frontis. First book from Dix, who is possibly better known for his biography of Champlain. Condition of this book: Boards lightly worn with a few marks and stains (nothing offensive). Free front endpaper splitting along spine but still attached, frontis and its tissue guard scratched but image untouched, all images fine. Former owner's name penciled on flyleaf. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Antiquarian & Rare; France; 19th century; Travel & Places.
