Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. No date but circa 1860s. This is a compilation of 64 tipped in plates removed from books (frontispieces, plates, etc.), copperplate, stipple, and steel engravings done in the late 18th to mid-19th centuries. There is one colored lithograph. Bound in red cloth over boards with a front pastedown paper label as well as a paper spine label. some of the plates have pencil notations stating the relationship of the person in the portrait to a king or queen, some have notations reading "A good king" or "A weak king" etc. written below the portrait. Some of the plates originally bound in have been removed; edges of some pages chipped, backstrip is detached but included & has pieces missing from top and bottom. Quantity Available: 1.
