Size: Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. Ex library. Portfolio 1 only. Ex library. Blue cloth portfolio contains 55 collotype reproductions of Italian drawings from The Metropolitan Museum of Art. "On the back of each print, the artist's name and dates are given and the essential facts about the drawing itself - title, size, material, and if known, the names of former owners." A few of the 29 artists are: Aspertini, Bassano, Canaletto, Carracci, Castiglione, Correggio, Leonardo Da Vinci, Martti, Michelangelo, Titian. The portfolio of this ex-library copy is worn along all edges, spine, and corners; the ribbons which tie to hold the portfolio closed are basically gone; gilt library marking on spine, two library stamps on interior. The following drawings are missing: number 7, 41, 42, 57, and 58. Nearly all the drawings have some minor bumping at corners, some have faint or minor smudges in blank margins. That said, the following defects go beyond that description; 32, 23, 28, 17, 16, 3, & 5 all have two marks on the verso where some kind of adhesive was used to fix the drawing to a wall or whatever; the paper is thinner at those points, but not noticeable from the recto. Several had more noticeable creases at the corners, a few had a thumbprint in the right blank margin near the edge, a couple had very short tears at right edge. All drawings had the library stamp on verso, and a couple had a library impression (like a notary seal), but they are not very noticeable as they are in upper corners. Most defects would most probably be concealed when framed. Each drawing is 10 5/8" x 14. Portfolio is 11" x 15." Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 4 lbs 15 oz. Category: Art & Design; Books; Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: 003867.
