Taken from the author's introduction : All through history there have been people, men women & children, who have claimed to have been shown windows into the future. Most were quite accurate in the short term but when it came to predicting the end of the world or the end of time - supposedly the same thing - they would slump trancelike into mystic language & begin speaking in riddles....A number of Bible characters also predict the future course of events but by and large they used the same methods - 'When you see these things know that the time is near'. Daniel, for instance, was so accurate with his 'short term' prophecies that many scholars believed someone else must have written them for him after the events had occured....This book approaches this dilemma from a different perspective. It first figures out what earth time is, where it comes from & when it is due to come to the end of its cycle, then works backwards through various prophecies to see where they lead. The bible is chosen in particular because it is the world's most ancient book of knowledge still in print & so is readily available for anyone to at least check that what is written is true.
