340 g.; V, 6-120 pages, last two pages blank, introduction by Professor A. J. Ewart, list of coloured plates, list of photo engravings, glossary and index. Colour illustrated, tipped in, frontispiece by Herbert Dickins showing 2 Victorian wildflowers. Within the text there are another three coloured tipped in plates by the same illustrator along with 56 black-and-white photographs. Bound in pale blue cloth covered boards, traces of insect damage to the top of the front and rear panels, foxing to the spine section, illustrated dust jacket with a pasted on plate, in the colour of terrestrial orchids . slight rubbing of the corners of the dust jacket with a small tear at the top left and bottom right of the spine section. Offset tanning of the front and rear free end pages, ownership name stamp on the front free end page, the book has been over-opened at the half title page, with some exposure of webbing and the half title page and the frontispiece are partially detached. There is a 1 inch tear approximately 2 inches from the top on the left-hand side of page 8. "Edward Edgar Pescott (11 December 1872 - 31 July 1954) was an Australian naturalist. He was Principal Governor of the Burnley School of Horticulture from 1909 to 1916, and Government Pomologist for the Victorian Department of Agriculture from 1917 to 1937.
