750 g; XII, 5-212 pages, with colour frontispiece and foxed tissue guard, and illustrated with 20black-and-white, and also 8 colour plates. Bound in dark red cloth with corners tipped with red leather, spine clad in red leather, 5 raised bands, gilt decorations. The top inch of the rear panel and the spine section are slightly faded. The hinge at the top of the rear panel shows signs of cracking, and there is evidence that the front hinge is also starting to "go". Marbled end pages, top edge of text block gilded, small stamp at the bottom of the front free end page verso "Hardy Bros Ltd bound in England". A history or overview of the nightclubs of London. "Many other prewar nightclubs, which started with a tremendous flourish of trumpets ("flourish of strumpets" was the sad way and misprint once put it), seems to have joined the snows of yesteryear.
