From American participation in the 1894 European events and the very first gasoline-automobile race held in the United States, the Chicago Times-Herald of 1895, to the United States Auto Club's recent announcement of improved safety regulations, sparked by the tragic 1973 Indianapolis 500, Albert Bochroch has chronicled the leading aspects of the racing scene: events, circuits, organisations, honours, and personalities. His text abounds with the excitement, the dedication, the sacrifices, and the very spirit of this intense sport. -- front fold over blurb Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall.
