5.6 kg; 1536 pages, in four volumes, illustrated with full-page sepia photographs, and part page black-and-white photographs, the title page of each volume and the frontispiece in colour. The books must be printed in 1937 or later, because page in 1196 refers to a date of 1936. There is rubbing and chipping of the leather binding, with a emphasis on the top and bottom edges. The boards themselves clean, and free of bumping, and there are only minor signs of foxing to the front edges of the text block. There is a forward by Onslow, and refers to the book as the author's new work, and hopes that the book will encourage the reader to support the preservation of a wild beasts and birds and prevent their destruction.
