10 volumes. NOT Ex-Library. All are in good clean tidy condition, with the worst damage of being in the sunning of the spines, and very minor rubbing of the fold over tips. All the volumes appear to follow the format of 72 pages, with four colour pages each, and a varying number of black-and-white line drawings, the number of varying from 103 through to 160. Each of the volumes considers for the period that is set clothing for men, women and children, hairstyles, footwear, and where it exists corsetry or underwear. Each volume discusses the styles that were fashionable, and the evolution of clothing, footwear and personal appearance through time. All of the dust wrappers with the exception of volume IX have been price clipped. The opening paragraph on the first volume fold over flap said "this is the first of a series which will survey the development of British costume. In six volumes it will span Roman Britain to the 20th century" the last four volumes must have been an afterthought. Sold As a Set. Size: Quarto -- up to 12 " Tall.
