X, 424, XIV pages, last page blank, includes eight pages of black-and-white photographs and facsimiles of documents. Alger Hiss, State Department official accused of spying, "tells in detail the story of his appearances before the House Committee on Un-American Activities in August 1948", finally convicted of perjury, Hiss served prison time but is now generally believed to have been totally innocent and a victim of the House Un-American Activities Committee. Aside from a slight dustiness of the top edge the book itself is in good order, the dust jacket is missing the bottom 1.5 inches of the back strip section, and is chipped at the head of the back strip, and each of the fold over corners Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
