400 g; VI, 186 pages, colour illustrated dust jacket. Slight dustiness to the top edge of the text block otherwise in very good order. Written in 1974, this book encapsulate all the fears of today's Greeny, with regard to genetically modified foods. An experiment in radiation treatment of fish in a fish farm off the outer islands of North Carolina is successful in producing fast-growing fish for man's consumption. The microscopic ocean organisms on which the fish feed also receive the radiation, and they amass in a red tide of catastrophic proportions. The fish that have fed on the affected organisms show horrifyingly abnormal aggressiveness towards other fish and even against man. And more: human beings who have consumed the fish take on the same lunatic destructive tendencies. (i thought we had these tendencies already). . Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall.
