Red textured hardcover with yellow coloured embossed titles to the front panel and backstrip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper with red, white and yellow coloured titles to the front panel and red and brown coloured titles to the backstrip. The life of the circus people is told in depth, showing that the facade of gaiety can sometimes mask hardness and unhappiness. Softening to the backstrip edges with rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. Browning and faint foxing to the textblock edges and browning to the pages. Offset tanning and foxing to the endpapers. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and backstrip edges. Both the top and bottom edges have multiple small chips and the top edge and the bottom edge of the front panels has small pieces missing. A previous owner has supported the tears with tape, on the outside, the tape is still in situ. Rubbing and some fading to the dustwrapper, dustwrapper now protected.
