Red coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper with black and green coloured titles to the front panel. [31]-49) A Far Country : A Fantasy, p. [45]-59) The Bet ,(p. [51]-59) Our Neighbours, (p. [61]-70) The Rocky Headland, (p. [71]-84) The Forged Notes or Julie's Cave, (p. [85]-109). There is no visible publication date, but the majority of the short stories were written in the early part of the 1950s. Rubbing to the book corners and backstrip edges. The spine has a slight cock. Some dark marks to the front board with Browning and very faint foxing of the textblock edges. Offset tanning, light foxing and browning to the endpapers with age toning of the pages. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and backstrip edges. Rubbing of the dustwrapper panels with the rear panel showing some grubby marks. There is a 1.5" tear to the lower right-hand corner of the rear panel and there is another smaller tear to the lower edge of the same panel. A small split to the top and bottom fold over corners.
