This book was first published in 1969, under the title of "Theatrelexikon" in Hannover, Germany, – of which this book is an adapted and amplified version under the editorship of Martin Esslin. Listed alphabetically, this book is an attempt to encompass Theatre history in all countries where theatre has had a significant impact. Softening and a little fading to the backstrip edges and to the book corners. A previous owner has clipped the free front end page, approximately one third of the page is missing.
