Map illustrated endpapers, showing the route of the balloons over the Sahara desert. The text is illustrated with five inserts, of four pages each, of colour photography. Orange coloured boards with gilt embossed titles to the front panel and gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Colour photographic dustwrapper with white and black coloured titles to the front panel and white colour titles to the backstrip. In January and February of 1972, two hot air balloons drifted over the Sahara Desert. This book, in words and photographs, tells of that epic and unique journey. Softening and sunning to the backstrip edges with rubbing to the book corners and lower book edges. Browning to the textblock edges and lighter browning to the pages. Chipping to the backstrip edges and dustwrapper corners. There is a 0.5" tear to the top edge of the front dustwrapper panel and 2 tears measuring 1" each with a connecting horizontal crease measuring 2 inches will. rubbing to the dustwrapper panels, a previous owner has supported both these tears with tape to the verso of the dustwrapper.
