At the beginning of the text there are four pages of illustrations of the principal characters of the book. Illustrator not credited. Pale blue coloured cloth covered boards with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. This book was first published in 1933. The murder of the elderly, bedridden and invalid Mrs Lancaster was just the first in the secretive, enclosed and monied world of The Crescent. It would take more murders and a criminologist to delve into the past of the families to bring justice. Softening and fading to the backstrip edges and bumping to the book corners. Fading to the book edges and there is browning of the textblock edges and of the internal pages. A few handling marks to the endpapers. The dustwrapper is not in great shape. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the heel of the backstrip. The top 0.25" of the backstrip is missing. There is a 2" tear to the lower edge of the rear fold over panel and a few splits along the front fold over panel. Heavy rubbing to the dustwrapper panels. Sunning to the backstrip and a few stains are also present. Browning and foxing, along with staining to the verso of the dustwrapper. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. (12), 3-341, (1) pages..
