1.2 kg.; (7), 8-208 pages, picture sources, reference notes and index. Photographic endpapers, showing an early film still showing bushrangers holding up a stagecoach. Black-and-white photographic frontispiece, showing Ned Kelly. At the beginning of the book are four pages of black and white photographs showing the main protagonists in the Kelly Gang and the police who went after them. The text is illustrated with copious black-and-white photographs and contemporary illustrations of the various bushrangers from convict times up to the demise of the Kelly Gang. Olive coloured boards with gilt titles to the backstrip. Rubbing to the backstrip corners and book corners. Shelf wear to the lower book edges. A few marks to the book panels and light browning and foxing to the text block edges. Light age toning of the internal text. Colour illustrated dustwrapper, being a part preproduction of the Tom Robert's painting "Bailed Up", with yellow, white and black titles to the front panel and yellow and white titles to the backstrip. On the rear dustwrapper panel is a photographic still from one of the very early films about Ned Kelly. A little creasing to the dustwrapper edges and rubbing to the dustwrapper panels. This book, without the illustrations, was first published in the 1930s and was the most comprehensive and accurate account of the Australian bushranging scene. This book takes a classic work and illustrates with contemporary and modern black-and-white photography and illustrations these desperate men. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall.
