Coloured illustrated frontispiece and 13 other colour plates within the text has been drawn by Maxwell Armfield and there are another 12 black-and-white illustrations and a map also within the text. Blue coloured cloth covered boards with silver? titles to the backstrip. Bumping, rubbing and a slight fraying to the backstrip edges and to the book corners. The underlying boards is visable to the lower book corners. Heavy rubbing to the book edges and lighter rubbing to the book panels along with some marks. Fading -- to the point colour of titles is guesswork, to the backstrip and lighter fading to the front panel. Foxing also present. Browning and foxing to the text block edges and to the internal text. Previous owners name to the top right-hand corner of the free front end paper.
