Buff coloured endpapers. Black coloured boards with silver writing on spine. Corners of the book are slightly bumped at the bottom and the head and the heel of the spine is soft and bumped. Dust marks to the top paper edge and foxing to all edges. Internal pages are somewhat brown. Dustwrapper, designed by Seymour Stanley, with white and yellow coloured decorations with black background and white spiral with red and black coloured titles to the front panel and spine. The dustwrapper is rubbed and faded and the corners are chipped. Chipping has also occurred to the top and bottom of the spine and to the top and bottom of the back panel. On the verso of the dustwrapper there are foxing marks and grubby marks, and the top edge is slightly creased and there are creases on the front fold over. A novel about men who work on building an atomic bomb and how scientists justifies and rationalises their work. A novel form the early Cold War era.
