Photographic endpapers, black and white, both different, front endpaper showing a paddock of sheep and the rear endpaper showing grain being cut by horse-drawn reaper. Coloured frontispiece, by Hans Heysen, "The Red Gum". Within the text there are 3 folding maps, 40 black and white plates and 26 text figures. Red coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the spine. This book celebrates 100 years of South Australia's history including chapters on Antarctic exploration by Douglas Mawson, the Aborigines, natural history, plus others. The corners slightly rubbed and bumped as is the head and heel of spine. There is sun damage to the spine and extending onto the front panel for the first 2" to a depth of 1.5". The back panel is also affected, the fading runs the full-length of the book and to the body of the book for 1.5" x 1.5". Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [For], V - XXIII, [2], 2 - 420 pages,.
