Oblong quarto, first edition, pp. pp. 128, lavender cloth-covered boards with silver stamped lettering to front and spine, color and halftone illustration, signed by Shire on the free front endpaper, with an interesting gift inscription from a friend of Shire's. The subject, Anthony Nelle, was a choreographer and dancer who also worked as a designer in theater during the 1920s and '30s. Here Shire considers Nelle's art deco theater work, which has been likened to that of Erte but had fallen into obscurity. Costume is also featured. Condition of this book: Jacket is fair to good with stains and edge tears, protected under Brodart. Book is very near fine with a bit of wear to the corners and spine ends. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
