Octavo, first edition, pp. x, 44, blue paper-covered boards quarter-bound in navy cloth with a paper label on the spine and front, frontis map tipped in, half-tone photos by Clara E. Sipprell tipped in, inscribed on the free front endpaper by French. French was a descendant of the Mrs. Johnson who was the subject of the story and its original author. Her book was released in 1796, and the present book is a condensed version of that original, which told the story of Mrs. Johnson's four years among Indians and the French. Condition of this book: Overall very good; covers discolored with a few stains, dents; spine label missing a corner, very clean inside. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
