Felicie, 1973, Hardcover (Original Cloth), Book Condition: Near Fine, Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good, Unstated
DALI, SALVADOR. Les Diners de Gala, New York: Felicie Inc. 1973. Quarto, pp. 321, illustrated boards, color photos, lithographs, drawings, translated into English from the original Spanish by Captain J. Peter Moore. One of the more unusual cookbooks you will ever own, from an artist-author who says "Do not forget that a woodcock flambee in strong alcohol, served in its own excrements, as is the custom in the best of Parisian restaurants, will always remain for me in that serious art that is gastronomy, the most delicate symbol of true civilization." A back page assures us that all recipes "have been elaborated with great precision by a chef wishing to remain in the most secret anonymity." No word on whether the recipes are any good, but they look like they work. Condition of this book: Near fine -- bottom edge rubbed, a few spots at leaves' edges; jacket gilt is tarnished in spots, and worn away at spine folds, good to very good. Size: Quarto.
