Folio, all issues from January through June, pp. x, 532, marbled paper-covered boards half-bound in black morocco, speckled edges, extensive illustration, occasional penciled marginalia. Highlights include William Henry Jackson photos of the West turned into large illustrations (one double-page view of Aspen is particularly striking), coverage of the Johnstown flood, baseball illustration featuring the New York-Boston rivalry, and two sprawling, 4-foot-long foldouts showing a Centennial celebration in New York. Brooklynites will be astonished to see what a tornado did in their borough that year. In Mexico, a feature on bullfighting is illustrated by Remington. Condition of this book: Covers loose and substantially worn, spine crumbling and generally poor. Interior very good with sporadic tears at edges, a few minor stains. One of the long fold-outs has a 4-inch tear at an edge, no loss of content. Size: Large Folio (bigger than A3). Text contains marks and notes scattered throughout, in pencil.
