Green-Wood was originally released in parts in 1846. Views of cemeteries in Boston and Brooklyn make for an unlikely gift book, but that is how they were marketed, according to Frank Weitenkampf (American Graphic Art, p. 81-82), "with good landscapes, drawn by James Smillie and in part engraved by him, in 'highly finished line engraving.' " Scarce; Worldcat lists only 7 copies in institutional libraries. Condition of this book: Good except for the lack of covers.
