no publisher, 1955, Hardcover (Original Cloth), Book Condition: Fine, Dust Jacket Condition: No
FRANCES IRVIN. Oyster Bay in History, an unpublished typescript, together with an autographed letter signed from Irvin to the Oyster Bay Historical Society, 1955. Quarto, pp. [ii], 176, orange cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine, with a letter turning this text over to the historical society "to do with as they may decide." This draft was eventually revised and published as Oyster Bay: A Sketch. The present book is a photocopy of Irvin's original, with text printed on only one side of each leaf. It is unknown to me why she turned this over to the society unfinished. She covers high points of this Long Island community, of course including its most famous resident, Theodore Roosevelt. Condition of this book: Fine, no flaws. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 1-2 kilos. Category: Genealogy & Local History; United States; Antiquarian & Rare. Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: 54560.
