Central Park Board of Commissioners, Annual Report, 1869. Octavo, pp. 9-152, lacking covers and preliminary leaves, 9 mounted albumen photo prints, 2 folding color maps, other illustrations. Issued before the park was officially open, this reports on the progress of construction. The photos show zoo animals, statuary and landscape features. They measure about 4.25 inches at their tallest to 2 inches at their shortest. One map shows the park, with Croton Reservoir a dominant feature, and the other shows northern Manhattan, over which the park commission had jurisdiction. A lithograph envisions the interior of a "Palaeozoic Museum" under construction. No gift to he park went unnoticed, no matter how trivial; thus we learn that Robert J. Savage donated one raccoon.
