KNUD RASMUSSEN. The People of the Polar North, A Record, London: Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner, 1908. Quarto, English edition translated from the original Danish, pp. xix, 358, folding color map, extensive illustration in color and monochrome, top edge gilt, one plate loose. The title is perhaps misleading as the book covers Greenland and its nomadic people who are called polar Eskimos here. The illustrations were made by Count Harald Moltke, who traveled with Rasmussen and became gravely ill during his work, managing to make it home alive. Condition of this book: Covers edges worn, fore corners rubbed, rear panel discolored. Endpages browning, everything else bright and clean. First edition of the work in this format and binding, and/or set or series. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 2-3 kilos. Category: Travel & Places; 1900-1920; Antiquarian & Rare.
