Minnie's Pet Dog, Boston: Lee and Shepard, 1864. 16mo (6 inches high), likely first edition but I can't verify that, pp. 152, 2 (ads), blue cloth boards with floral gilt decoration to spine outlining blue lettering, blind-stamped borders around floral decoration on front and back, former owner's name on free front endpaper, illustrated second title page and two plates by John N. Hyde, engraved by Kilburn & Mallory of Boston. A part of Baker's Minnie's Pet series, which involved various domestic animals. The present copy is a remarkable survivor from the Civil War era, bright, showing only slight wear at the extremities and scattered light foxing. Scarce, not in Sabin. NUC locates only three copies in university libraries. Size: 16mo (very small). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting.
