Tall quartos, priority unknown, pp. xiv, 133, 62 plates; xvi, 92, plates 63-160, blue cloth boards half-bound in blue morocco with black calf labels to spines, raised bands with gilt-framed compartments, top edges gilt, with scarce original dust jackets. Plates are collotypes. Covers the 11th and 12th centuries, whose architectural sculpture "is endowed with an emotional quality, a characterfulness and a freshness that make it singularly appealing," author tells us. Condition of these books: Foxed edges, preliminaries, and margins, jackets chipped at edges but very good. Small bump in the bottom edge of the front board of Volume 2. Images fine. Size: Quarto. 2-volume set (complete). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact.
