The unvarnished opinion of Nevins, CWB, V.1., p.57: "A more thorough study than the usual ones published right after the war, yet too padded with manufactured conversations." Also see Dornbusch, V1, 470. Condition of this book Overall very good; boards edge-worn, the Beecher plate is offsetting in spite of a tissue guard. Clean. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
