Reilly & Lee, 1932, Hardcover (Original Cloth), Book Condition: Good, Dust Jacket Condition: No, First
THOMPSON, RUTH PLUMLY. The Purple Prince of Oz, Chicago: Reilly & Lee, 1932. Octavo, first edition, first state (Hanff, Greene XXVI), pp. 281, 11 color plates (one lacking, there should be 12), dark blue cloth boards with black lettering and so-called boldface publisher's logo to spine, color illustration pasted to front, edges tinted yellow, former owner's name at top edge and on preliminary page. Illustrations by John R. Neill. Bibliographia Oziana's first-state points are all here. (Some listings on the Internet have spread the notion that the first edition is dated 1922. Oziana lists no such edition, so I guess some sellers are having trouble reading the text on the copyright page, which, in fairness, is very small.) Condition of this book: Binding sound but front hinge starting, cover illustration very good, edges of covers are worn. A few internal marks, nothing offensive. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Children; United States; 1930s; Antiquarian & Rare. Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: 53174.
