Anonymous. Portrait and Biographical Album of the Members of the Legislature of the State of Michigan, Chicago: Chapman Brothers, 1883. Quarto, pp. 346 with irregular pagination and lacking blanks and chapter title pages at 171-72 and 211-14, brown morocco boards with gilt stamped lettering and floral decoration to front, blind-stamped boxes and decoration, four raised bands and rule to spine, all edges gilt, collotype portrait plates and biographies of Michigan political leaders and past U.S. presidents, signed by Lt. Gov. Moreau S. Crosby, dated Grand Rapids 1884. This apparently was Crosby's copy, as it was found with other books in his library. An extremely rare piece of Michigana. OCLC Worldcat locates no copies. The unnamed editor says in his preface that the biographies here are meant to be inspirational but do not overstate the subjects' achievements. Condition of this book: Boards worn at extremities, 2-inch chunk detached from upper spine, front joint starting. Clean inside, Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Spine working loose but still intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1.
