Taka Ishi Gallery, 1997, Softcover, Book Condition: Near Fine, Dust Jacket Condition: No, Revised
CLARK, LARRY. Teenage Lust, Japan: Taka Ishi Gallery, 1997. Quarto, first Japanese edition (preceded by a 1983 English-language edition), unpaginated with 98 pages of photos, mostly duotone, white illustrated wraps. This is the expanded version with an additional 13 pages of photos and a handwritten page of text by Clark. That's in English, as is all the captioning. The photographer's 23-page essay has been translated into Japanese. Clark told Roth (The Book of 101 Books) that the first edition was incomplete and he prefers this one. See Roth pp. 244-5 and Bertolotti Page 260. Clark called this an autobiography although he used people who were about 10 years younger than he, growing up under the same circumstances he did in the Southwest U.S. It's a story of sex, drug abuse and aimless living, with the final part of the book shot among young male hustlers on 42nd Street in New York City, back when it was a center of prostitution. Clark had to finance first publication himself because the original publisher wanted deletions he wouldn't make. Condition of this book: Near fine, very slight toning to the edges and wraps. First edition of the work in this format and binding, and/or set or series. Size: Quarto. Text is in Japanese. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Photography; United States; 1970s; Japanese Language; Erotica. ISBN: 0938262149. ISBN/EAN: 9780938262145.
