Tall quarto, first edition, simultaneous with a London edition, unpaginated, red cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine and upper panel, black and gilt decoration with a floral motif surrounding a gilded heraldic seal on upper panel, all edges gilt. With illumination by Mary E. and Amy Comegys, 28 photogravures (uncredited) protected under tissue guards, all text and images on heavy stock printed on only one side. BAL 12693. Condition of this book: Boards loosely attached, delicate, cloth chipped at spine ends. Leaves have a few fingerprints, tight, images fine. Free rear endpaper is torn out. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Spine working loose but still intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1.
