Folio, first edition, pp. 155, light green cloth boards with gilt-stamped lettering on spine and upper panel, slipcased, original Chagall lithograph bound in. This book was inspired by Chagall's work on modern dance sets including Daphnis and Chloe, The Firebird and Aleko, with numerous double-page color illustrations. The lithograph, showing two dancers and faun, is often removed from the book and framed. Condition of this book: Overall very good, slipcase worn at edges with a few small stains. Jacket chipped at spine ends and corners, leaves clean and tight, litho has a faint wrinkle in the upper left off the image. Size: Large Folio (bigger than A3). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
